Soundwave Research Laboratories

Laboratory

Soundwave Research Laboratories, Inc. operates a product development, engineering, and scientific investigation laboratory used for materials research, device design, data collection and analysis, and for competitive product testing. "The lab" also supports our own manufacturing process development activities such as production tooling, fixturing, and process qualification.

Lab staff have diverse backgrounds in materials, analytical methods and algorithm development, electronics and RF engineering, ultrasound, acoustics, physics and nanotechnology.

key programs and areas of expertise:

Audio Transducer Development

This includes new ribbon motor acoustics, advanced magnetic design, and test algorithm development. Much of this work is incorporated into our Crowley and Tripp ribbon microphone product line.

Medical Device Development

Focused on the invention and improvement of new medical devices that incorporate transducers and sensors, or that are designed to be used with X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, Optical Coherence Tomography, Spectroscopy, or other medical imaging and sensing techniques.

Tissue Characterization Techniques

Used for the identification and potential elimination of cancerous cells from the body, these next-generation catheter-based techniques are of high interest and involve the use of sophisticated analytical methods that can be translated into clinically relevant information that doctors can act on.

Manufacturing Process Development

Supports our manufacturing facility, and can be used for limited production or pilot manufacturing of various devices for product and process validation, and to support device trials.

Materials Research

This area involves Polymeric, PVDF and other interesting plastics and composites that have desirable electrical and acoustic properties for a wide variety of applications in consumer products and medical devices.

Project Management

We have extensive knowledge and experience managing small to large multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on commitment and accountability. Our group has a long and proven track record of results, and we continue to innovate guided by strong business fundamentals.

Intellectual Property Development

With sister company AMBIT Corporation and other licensing entities, the lab undertakes investigative and prototype activity, as well as basic discovery and creation of new product ideas and opportunities.
